If you ask us, there's absolutely nothing better than curling up on the couch with a classic Nicholas Sparks film, glass of wine and tissues in hand. And while it's safe to say we love pretty much every Nicholas Sparks film that has ever graced the big screen, A Walk to Remember, starring mega-hunk Shane West and This Is Us star Mandy Moore, is one of our all-time favorites.
So, imagine how we felt when we found out that West and Moore actually had a little mini-reunion on the fifteenth (that's right, FIFTEENTH!) anniversary of the film's release date.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the two actors dished on their experiences filming the classic teen love story. For Moore, it was her first role as a leading actress in a film, which would be SO nerve-wrecking, if you ask us! However, Mandy handled it like a pro.
"I think that it was such an overwhelmingly positive, memorable experience for me because it was my first leading role and it was the first film I worked on away from home," she said. "There are very few times in your career when the memories and the relationship you have to a project match the relationship that an audience has to the project — but this movie is as special to me as it seems to be to people out there in the world."
West, who currently plays the role of John Alden on the hit show Salem, agreed with Mandy: "In our case, it was a great experience, it was a lot of fun, everyone bonded on set and off, and it happened to turn out to be a success. You couldn’t ask for anything more."
It sounds like they had an amazing time shooting the film! When asked about what exactly they remember about meeting each other, Mandy's answer kind of made us tear up with happy tears.
"Shane was so cool. Everything about him, from the way he dressed, the little cigarettes that he smoked, and the music he listened to. He was the character to me and there was definitely a part of me that absolutely fell in love with him," she gushed.
Shane added, "It was kind of perfect the way we came into the project because she was coming from this pop background at that time — she had her song “Candy”, and a role in the Princess Diaries — and for me I was into punk rock and so it was like completely opposites attract."
OMG! We ship them so hard! The two even hung out over the weekend!
Now that we're done wiping all of our tears away, we're gonna go pop this movie in and bawl our eyes out all over again.
