There used to be a time when removing yourself from a bully's physical presence could provide some relief from even the most aggressive attacks. In the digital age, not only do we now have faster and more efficient ways to connect with each other, we can also use those connections to spread hatred.

It's sad to think that more than one in three young people has experienced some form of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a serious issue, it can result in shame, withdrawal, depression, and even suicide!

StopBullying.gov defines cyberbullying as, "Bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites."

Cyberbullying is everywhere! But, here's an example where hatred online resulted in an amazing opportunity.

An aspiring model who goes by the name, "Honey Dip" on Twitter was being harassed relentlessly about her weight. Actress/singer/designer, Zendaya happened upon the feed and offered this tweet in support of the young lady. "Stumbling across this is stupid sh*t, she is fine as hell head to toe and guaranteed does't know you exist my man. As for her, slay on queen."

That wasn't enough to end the barrage of negativity, but Zendaya didn't stop there. She enlisted the help of her followers to find Honey Dip, so that she could offer her the opportunity to model for her new clothing line, Daya by Zendaya

Her followers did not disappoint. Take a look:

According to her Twitter profile, Honey Dip is enrolled at Monmouth University, class of 2019. Her response was nothing more than sweet and sincere. Zendaya is giving this young lady a chance to live out her dreams!

Shout out to Zendaya for taking a negative and turning it into a positive. This serves as a great example of how we should support one another in the cyber world. The recent incidents of online suicide among young people has spiked and perhaps more people will follow Zendaya's example.
