Harry Potter fans, rejoice!
The second Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film has started shooting at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden— just outside of London, where the Harry Potter movies were shot. Say whaaa? Could this mean we're getting some flashback Hogwarts scenes? A muggle can dream, right?
Luckily for us, the studio released new plot details for the sequel, where we will see Eddie Redmayne return as the magizoologist Newt Scamander. In addition, we'll also get to see Johnny Depp take on Grindelwald, Dumbledore's love interest and the dark wizard before Voldemort. Young Dumbledore will be played by Jude Law, which obviously has us all swooning.
Warner Bros. revealed: “Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.”
As all of your favorite characters return, Grindelwald will “test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world." Credence (Ezra Miller), will also be making an unexpected return.
As for new characters, Zoe Kravitz will play Leta Lestrange, Newt's problematic friend and Bellatrix's relative. The suspense...it's too much to handle! A release date can't come soon enough!
