The New 'Walking Dead' Season 8 Trailer Is Here & It's Legit Terrifying

The Walking Dead

The new 'Walking Dead' trailer for season 8 was released at the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, and people are freaking out for a few reasons.

For one, the phrase "shi**ing pants" is used, as in "I hope you have your shi**ing pants on". For another, the trailer basically shows an all-out war unfolding, and all of our fave characters are going to be there when it happens.

Check it out here:

So yeah, the trailer is basically an action movie all on its own.

For anyone who needs a recap of season 7 of 'The Walking Dead', we ended off with Negan and the Saviors traveling to Alexandria to confront Rick. Then Sasha committed suicide and the scavengers double-crossed Rick's group and revealed they'd been dealing with Negan the whole time. You know the drill: there was a standoff, then a gun fight. Negan and the Saviors and the Scavengers retreated to prepare for an all-out war.

And so we find ourselves at the beginning of Season 8, which will premiere October 22nd, at the beginning of this war.

The trailer definitely implies that some serious sh*t is going to go down, as promised. We can expect all-out warfare between the Saviors and Rick almost immediately in the eighth season. We can also expect zombies. Like, a lot of them.

There isn't much dialogue in the trailer to prep us for what's going to happen to each of our characters, but we did catch glimpses of all our favorites, including Michonne, Rick, Negan, Tara, Carol and Dwight.

There's been a lot of hype over the trailer in the few short days since it's come out, including a few fan theories about a possible ending for the show. There's plenty to speculate about: that gun with the 43 tick marks on it has to mean something pretty dramatic.

At one of the only points in the trailer where anyone speaks, Rick gives a pre-war speech that should be enough to pump you up for the show's season 8 premiere all on its own:

“That bigger world is ours, by right. Those who use and kill, we end them. Everything we’ve beaten, everything we’ve endured, everything we’ve risen above, everything we’ve become — no matter what comes next, we’ve won. We’ve already won!”

Let the countdown begin.
