2016 was a busy year for Donald Glover. Between his Golden Globe-winning show Atlanta and his show-stopping Childish Gambino album, we're left with one question: how does he do it? But now...Glover is taking his impressive resume to the next level and showing us what it takes to be king.
Glover will play Simba in Disney's live-action Lion King remake. The director, Jon Favreau, subtly announced the news on Twitter on Friday:
Does this mean Glover will reference his "3005" lyric: “Girl why is you lyin’? Girl why you Mufasa?”
Probably not, but a girl can dream.
Favreau, who famously directed the live-action remake of The Jungle Book, announced that James Earl Jones will return to reprise his role as Mufasa, which definitely made us feel some type of way. We can't imagine anyone else portraying the soulful, wise lion.
Other than those two casting announcements, Favreau and the Disney company has been rather secretive, most likely because Disney is in full Beauty and the Beast promotion mode.
In the meantime, we'll be dreaming of Donald Glover singing "Can You Feel The Love Tonight."
