When Leighton Meester and Adam Brody got married in 2014, our hearts kind of imploded on themselves because it meant freaking Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf and The O.C.'s Seth Cohen were officially an item. Of course we, the fans, are all about it, but apparently, the couple is as well...sort of. The couple recently joked about their character coupling and once again, our feels went into hyperdrive.
A decade ago we lost one of the best characters to ever appear on our television screens, but also gained one as well. It was in 2007 that we said goodbye to Seth Cohen as The O.C. left the air, but that fall saw the debut of Gossip Girl. All was right with the world because we now had a new show about teens in the most overdramatic situations to fill our lives. Of course, no one would have ever guessed that two of the best characters from each would one day be an item.
If you watched The O.C., you shipped the hell out of Seth and Summer. Not only because they were the perfect fictional pair, but also because the actors dated in real life! We're still a little upset that they broke up and went on to marry other people, but now that we know Brody and Meester actually acknowledge their past, we're cool with it.
Unlike a lot of their peers in Hollywood, this isn't a couple you see out and about too often . So when they are, they obviously get asked about Blair and Seth. When Entertainment Tonight asked about the TV teen dream pairing, wondering if they ever talk about it around their house. Brody said, "Occasionally." Jokingly, he added, "Once a year—once a year, we have a Seth and Blair day, where we dress up."
His wife of three years added, "Yeah, maybe occasionally. Not in the same way maybe you do." She also noted, "It doesn't excite us, I think, because we're just human beings, but it's exciting to us that it's exciting to you. It's cool."
So okay, they don't sit around reciting lines from their old series to one another on a daily basis (like we all imagine they do) but at least they are good sports when it comes to talking about it. There are some famous faces who may've scoffed at the question or ignored it. It's nice to see the cute boy next door and the queen bee of the Upper East Side have a sense of humor about the whole thing.
